The bluebonnet was designated the official state flower by the Texas Legislature in 1901. The bluebonnet blooms in early spring in Central and South Texas and can be found along highways, country roads and in parks throughout the area. Texas was the first state in America to plant its roadways with flowers. So now everyone can enjoy the bluebonnets.
