On your first visit to the Capitol, it might appear confusing to see so many people moving about. Where are all of these people going?

The Texas Capitol has two main wings, an east wing and a west wing attached to the rotunda. Inside each wing is a chamber, a large room, where the House or the Senate meet to discuss and vote on bills.

The House chamber is in the west wing and the Senate chamber is in the east wing. In addition, each side has their own press conference room and staff offices. The west wing includes an apartment where the Speaker of the House lives during the session.

The Governor also works at the Capitol. His office is in the middle, between the two chambers, symbolizing his central role in state government.
